Canadian Veteran Biographies
Other Wars and Deployments
Following the removal of Pol Pot and his reign of terror in Cambodia, in 1991 the United Nations created the United Nations Transitional Authority Cambodia (UNTAC). In answer to the call, a large number of personnel were recruited from the Canadian Army Primary Reserve and augmented into Petawawa’s Special Service Force (SSF). Led by 2 Service Battalion, 20% of the drivers and one section commander, were from Ontario Reserve units. Notably, operating as a logistics unit in a theatre of operations, 11% of 92 Transport Company were females; a prime example of how the military was integrating women into operational roles. More accustomed to a diverse climate at home ranging from the arctic to temperate south, the tropical climate of Phnom Penh, Cambodia, didn’t detract from the Canadian’s overall success.
This bio/documentary for years 1992/93 was composed by a young Canadian Reservist.
