Canadian Veteran Biographies
The official 1939 Canadian declaration of World War Two stated:
We do hereby Declare and Proclaim that a state of war with the German Reich exists and has existed in Our Dominion of Canada as and from the tenth of September 1939.
Eventually as world events unfolded, Canada added a state of war with both Italy and Japan. Before peace reigned in August 1945, the total Canadian death toll was 42,042 men and women:
